This is a Leica IIIc from 1940, which originally shipped in chrome with red shutter curtains instead of black, supplied by Leica due to wartime shortages.
The top and bottom plates in this photo are actually spare parts that were acquired many years ago as a part of a large lot of Leica parts.
Being unable to find an appropriate chassis with which to fit the spare top and bottom plates, we decided to paint the spare parts in Leica wartime gray and fit them to this camera.
The original chrome top and bottom plates are safely stored away in case in the future we want to display the camera in the original chrome finish.
The camera is fitted with an OKARO orange filter which provides additional contrast to the rangefinder for focusing.
The lens is a rare 1947 Nippon Kogaku 50mm f/3.5 collapsible.
