Restoration35

About Us

Restoration35, founded by Robert Jagitsch, consists of a small team of specialists and artisans dedicated to preserving the timeless beauty and functionality of vintage collectible cameras. We primarily focus on Leica but also cater to other models and brands.

Our passion for classic photography drives us to provide exceptional repair, restoration, and customization services.

Our Texas-based team specializes in meticulous paintwork, bespoke customization, and comprehensive restoration, ensuring each camera is restored to its former glory with a touch of personalized elegance.

Our story can be traced all the way back to 1999 when Robert sent his Leica M3 to Shintaro-san in Tokyo for a black paint project. Shintaro-san had become renowned for his expertise in Leica black paint conversions, quickly gaining global acclaim for his meticulous craftsmanship. He had painted cameras for Tom Abrahamson, a respected figure in the Leica community known for his Rapidwinder product. Tom’s paint endorsement further elevated Shintaro-san’s status among Leica enthusiasts.

In early 2000 Robert retrieved his newly painted M3 during a business trip to Tokyo to attend the MacWorld Expo. Years later, after selling his Mac business, Robert was drawn back into photography and with inspiration from his black M3, embarked on his own black paint conversions after learning that Shintaro-san was no longer offering the service.

Restoration35 is continuing this Leica paint legacy with modern techniques, materials and additional customization.

We collaborate with esteemed partner technicians nationwide to tackle complete mechanical overhauls and other challenging repairs.  Each of our partners brings specialized knowledge, skills, and tools to every project.

Our commitment to quality and attention to detail ensure that every camera we restore or customize meets the highest standards of craftsmanship.spec
